Welcome to CEALH

CEAGH - Promoting healthier lives for seniors.Welcome to the Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health, or CEALH. We are a not-for-profit organization located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Above all, the mission of the Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health is:

  • to improve the quality of life for older adults by increasing autonomy and integrating the research capacity of universities, colleges and medical schools with the capabilities of local service providers.
  • to develop and implement innovative community-based initiatives that can be replicated and sustained.

Our vision is a model community that promotes the well-being and independence of older adults through collaboration among research and service professionals.

With these ultimate goals in mind, CEALH has become an invaluable medical and emotional resource for countless aging adults and their families.

Watch the Video

The Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health, an Affiliate of Riverside Health System, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by producing a brief video highlighting the Center’s services, programs, and impact on the larger community.

The video was released in late September 2012 when Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services Acting Administrator Marilyn Tavenner was the invited speaker in Williamsburg addressing health reform and its impact on older adults. The event was co-sponsored by Riverside Health System and the College of William & Mary.

By: Dr. Christy Jensen of CEALHGet Your Flu Shot

During the 25th Annual Summit of the Rosalynn Carter Institute, I was fortunate enough to meet professionals from around the country.

Several of these professionals presented during the Summit on topics including:

  • Engaging the faith-based community in supporting family caregivers
  • Legal issues in caregiving
  • Best practices in stroke caregiving
  • Supporting those caring for individuals with mental health issues
Current Clinical Studies

A clinical trial is a scientific study with the purpose of finding out how well new drugs, treatments, or medical devices work to treat a specific disease or condition. At CEALH, we closely supervise, monitor, and document the entire study, making it as safe as possible for participants.

We are currently seeking participants for the following clinical trials.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

Participant Criteria:

  • Study evaluating the safety and effects of two injectable doses of LY2127399 versus placebo in patients with SLE.
  • Adults 18 years or older.
  • Sixteen study visits during the 12 month trial duration with the option of continuing in an open label extension after completion of the study.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Participant Criteria:

  • Study evaluating the safety and effects of two doses of JNJ-27018966 versus placebo in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-d).
  • Adults 18 years to 80 years of age.
